The team at tourism were recruiting for new jobs, and to do so the idea was to show a taste of what it is like to work for these tourist boards.
I was asked for a very quick turn-around, working with freelancer Sam Merrick, where I received a brief of what needed to be covered and recorded. As Sam found the right soundtrack to use, I used my new Nikon D850 to create shots at the seafront. We recorded, edited and completed the video within a space of 5 days.
We really wanted to appeal to a certain audience, and to do so we need to let go of the corporate and somewhat ‘static image of the council’ and find a way to speak to more vibrant individuals who have passion for the seafront, for tourism, for both towns and for people!
We made a selection of shots on a bright, sunny day at Bournemouth Beach Lodges, with manager Kim Bowden. I took a tour on the Land Train and had the seafront team helping out with deck chairs and overall beautiful beach shots. We then combined it with event footage and drone footage, which we already had from previous projects.
Editing has always been my favourite part of any digital content, as I can really tweak things my way and make images, videos and illustrations really come to life. The video has since been shared mainly on Facebook (@bournemouthofficial) and has been viewed over 37,000 times.
