Adventure time exploring caves, serene lakes and breathtaking mountains

My first visit to the captivating Lake District. I was overwhelmed by the scenery, from glacial ribbon lakes to rugged mountains, to tranquil rivers, underground caves and old English bridges and architecture – all wrapped in a breathtaking autumnal colour palette.

We stayed at a little cottage, where we created a fire most evenings and I could run out with my camera every day as we had our own jetty overlooking Coniston Water.

We even found some amazing caves at Cathedral Quarry, where we felt as if we landed in a Tomb Raider game! It was such a rush climbing the walls over dark slate and gravel.

‘Far over the misty mountains cold’…. I could hear a deep dwarf voice when I found Ashness bridge, as it gave me a feeling I landed in Middle Earth. Followed by goosebumps as I looked up at the mountains in the background, bathed in light.

Across the land, mersmerising waters.
The darkness draws in.
Stillness in the air.
Light hits part of the mountain.
Making space.
Revealing shape and texture.
We are all drawn to nature.
